You are going to elevate the back foot on a chair, bench, or any other sturdy foot support, usually about 12-18 inches high.</p>
<p>Put your front leg well in front of you in order to make sure that your front knee and ankle are lined up. You will even want to exaggerate this so that the front knee is almost slightly behind the ankle as this will help reduce the force on the knees.</p>
<p>Start the exercise by loading the front heel and dropping your hips as low as you can in a pain-free range of motion. Stay tall with chest and shoulders down and back. Next explode through your front heel to return to the top of the movement.</p>
<p>You can start with body weight only and then progress by adding speed or weight with dumbbells. You can even incorporate other exercises with this like adding a curl or press at the top of the movement.</p>
<p>If you are looking for that apple bottom or just trying to tone up your legs, this exercise is a must in your workout program.</p>

If you have been struggling with weight loss issues for some time, it could be that you are making some of the common mistakes we see. Kelly is an expert at healthy living and eating issues and can help you pin point where you are getting stuck.</p>
<p>Kelly&#8217;s Colwood Boot Camp is structured in a way that meets the needs of both beginner and experts in fitness. She focuses on the principles of discipline, motivation, and teamwork! This program is about having FUN,  and seeing REAL results!</p>
<p>In fact losing weight is all about proper eating and the correct form of exercise. Kelly&#8217;s Colwood Boot Camp uses High-Intensity Interval Training to help you maximize your fat loss and get you into the best shape of your life. With multiple stations every session Kelly puts you through a full-body workout that will help you get toned and lean. Losing weight and gaining strength will happen quickly and in as little as three weeks you will begin to notice the difference.</p>
<p>No matter what your fitness level, each boot camp will have something for you, whether you are a complete beginner, or in the best shape of your life. Boot Camps are a great way to bond with other individuals, making it easier to stay dedicated to the program. Motivation is a major key to your success. Our course is continuously being developed to keep motivation levels high.  Not only is variety a mark of a well-designed program, but it also prevents the boredom that many people experience after committing to a long-term fitness regimen.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So after yesterdays post , I am wondering if any of you guessed right.  I went back to bed! I left myself enough time to workout and still be at the class I had to teach.</p>
<p>Some things I noticed on my first day of controlled eating.  Do I realize how many extra things I throw in my mouth?  I was making whole wheat dark chocolate chips pancakes as a treat for my daughter and with out even realizing it I had a few in my hand and almost popped them in my mouth.  My husbands trail mix was the same experience, as I folded the bag to put it away I almost reached in and grabbed a handful before completing the chore of putting them away.  Now I am not saying that a few chocolate chips, and nuts here and there are bad, but what if daily there are three or four things I did that with.  In the end it all adds up.  Being an advocator of being aware of all things going into my body I need to make sure I am present at every moment so I do not mindlessly graze and completly overide the decisions I have made to eat clean and well portioned.  Just a thought.</p>
<p>The workout was legs, it was hard, I found near the end I felt a little shaky, do not know completely why ,but will look out for it if it continues.</p>
<p>Today is a new day ,filled with good choices, a couple great clients(all my clients are great ,but I am only training 2 today) and a boot camp tonight at 6:30pm at Crystal View Elementary.</p>
<p>Its sunny ,and I am ready for day 2!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have been helping people lose weight for a while now, and I myself have gone on quite the journey. Believe me, I have tried almost every diet imaginable. The challenge with almost all diets is they don&#8217;t work long-term. So if you want to lose weight and then gain it back again and even more, go on a diet but if you want weight-loss that is healthy and sustainable then you have to change your lifestyle. I am not sure how many Langford weight loss clinics there are or how many Victoria weight loss clinics are around, but I&#8217;m guessing quite a few. When it comes to weight loss there is a lot I could write but today I will stick with just one thing.</p>
<p>There is a delicate formula in the body of calories in and calories out. I say delicate because it is not as simple as it sounds. Typically when people want to lose weight they increase their activity and decrease their food intake. Its a great place to start. After all to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you take in. You have to create a deficit with your calories. The challenge here, is if you create too big a deficit in your weight loss efforts your body will actually stop you from losing the fat that you so desperately want to get rid of. If the deficit is too great your body automatically begins to believe you are starving (you might feel you are too!) When your body enters starvation mode, it puts a hold on everything. It lowers your metabolism (bad thing) and does its best not to let go of any of the fat you have stored. All this ends up working against you. Imagine, your body as your own worst enemy here. Although it thinks its protecting you.</p>
<p>So when you decide you want to lose weight you definitely want to increase your exercise but instead of drastically cutting back on your eating first start by cleaning up your eating. Get rid of foods high in sugar, high in fat, and stay away from white flour products. This alone will have you losing weight at first and you wont feel like you are starving. I will write more later on what to do next.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Almost 1 month!</strong></p>
<p>Hi everyone it has almost been a month.  I have a weigh in tomorrow so it will be interesting to see where I fall.  Really Monday is the 1 month mark so maybe I will wait to then.  Well its the long weekend, filled with bar b ques and family and fun.  What a perect time to let down my guard and give in&#8230;.NO WAY!  What a perfect time to focus on fun, and time with my family and friends, the holiday is not about my food but the time spent relaxing.  I get 2 days off in a row, have not had that since I started my Langford Bootcamps and my personal training business.  So I am looking forward to it.</p>
<p>Training is going well lifting heavier and heavier every week.  I have taken my cardio up a notch to so that I really get my workout in hard.</p>
<p>Just got back from Wild Play in Langford.  Man it was fun.  It was a lot more physically challenging then I thought, and mentally a struggle from the beginning.</p>
<p>Life is like that sometimes an obstacle course, with different levels of difficulty and heights, sometimes causing us to rely on physical strength and sometimes mental strength and sometimes both.  The messages we send ourselves are oh so important.  Focus is needed, there were times today if I took away my focus for one minute I would start to wobble.  If I stopped feeding myself positive self talk I would feel like I could not do it, but my positive thinking and my brute strength got me through.  Now as my whole body starts to feel tight I am going for my massage.  How wonderful it will be!</p>

<p><strong>What a Beautiful Day</strong></p>
<p>It is so nice out today, did my workout and went for a great long bike ride outside in the beautiful sunny day.  But what a day of ups and downs.  I know it is a bad day when I wake up, and feel the &#8220;need&#8221; for chocolate!  But I stayed strong and have not caved in.  As a woman I know my pitfalls especially at a certain time of the month.  The face breaks out the tension is high, and the carvings are at an all time high! It almost feels like I can not make it, but I just keep telling myself &#8220;you can do this&#8221;, so far today it has worked.  That and making sure my food is prepared and ready. Also knowing I can and I am strong enough to overcome anything.  That&#8217;s just it, the belief in ourselves, sometimes mine is high sometimes I need a little self butt kicking!</p>
<p>Anyway enough of my belly gazing.  So as some of you know I too need a coach and mentor in my life to hold me accountable and to teach help me reach my goals.  Every 2 weeks I weigh in and take pictures in a bikini, to send to my trainer and she looks them over and makes any changes to my program that she sees fit.  Two days ago she took away my rice cakes and all natural almond butter.  It was a sad day in the Robbins household.  Having said that she is also a certified massage therapist.  I have some shoulder issues so I thought she knows the beatings we competitors put our bodies through so it would be good to see her.  Then it dawned on me the other day.  That means she will see me full body massage and all.  YIKES!! The panic set in.  Well nothing  Ican do between now and tomorrow so I will hold my breath and expose all my lumps and bumps as I try to relax under her gentle guidance.  Off to teach my Langford Boot Camp.</p>

<p><strong>Week 2 Strong and Determined</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s funny when you put your mind to something and make concrete decisions things look after themselves.  What I mean by this is, I decided to stick to my &#8220;lifestyle&#8221; plan no matter what, come birthdays or Mothers day I was going to stay clean and do what I needed to do.</p>
<p>So the past couple of weeks have brought with it, a birthday and a Mothers day, 2 days that could have been FAILURES in the clean eating plan.  But as I stood strong it was not.  I was at my mother in laws on Sunday and the whole ride there had to continue to say to myself, I do not need to eat anything but what I have brought.  As she pulled out the homemade black forest cake I felt a tinge of &#8220;well I can not say no , she made this for tonight&#8221;, then I thought the only reason why I would say yes to the cake would be because I want it.  Why do we use others as an excuse for our own decisions, why do we use the &#8220;feelings&#8221; of others as a gage to our own eating patterns.  This brings me to an email I received this week, where a woman said the reason why the world was overweight was because of the cost of fitness.  I have to say running around Thetis today costed me  nothing.  Walks , runs, skipping, jump squats, lunges, push ups, planks, tripod hold, bounding, running up stairs costs nothing, nothing but time and commitment and I could list 100 more exercises that are free and can get you in great shape,  so is it really the cost of fitness holding some back? I will let you answer that one on your own.</p>
<p>Off to personally train a client right now, then off to teach Boot Camp, life is good!<strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>Fridays Are Fun Days!</strong></p>
<p>Today was a fun day!  Got up at 5:00am, taught a 5:45am boot Camp, and went for a run right after with  a great friend around Thetis Lake.  After that drove out to Sooke , Jeep top off, sun shining, to go help my in laws in their garden.   Came home and now am ready for back , abs and hamstrings!</p>
<p>It is so true that when the sun shines all seems good.</p>
<p>Short post today, my advice or thoughts for the day, tell someone how much they mean to you , help someone out, or take some you time, all great advice!</p>

<p><strong>Another Day!</strong></p>
<p>So I have to say I am feeling great today!  I feel like I am in the groove now and already are seeing some great physical changes.  It is amazing to me how time and time again, a proven simple formula for weight loss is proven over and over again!  The EATING!!!  I can work out twice a day, take my clients up Mill Hill three times a day, and no loss , no inches off.  Unless I measure and watch everything that goes into my mouth , I either gain weight or stay the same.  You think I would know and stick to this all the time but sometimes even for me I need the reminder.</p>
<p>Speaking of clean eating I have to say something.  Parents today what are we doing to our kids?  I was at my daughters dance recital last night and actually was stunned at the amount of overweight kids, on average 5 out of  9 kids were overweight.  These are not kids that are living on their own buying their own groceries and making choices for themselves, these are kids 10 and under!  I know how it feels to be overweight HORRIBLE!! I sat back and was saddened at the state of our children.  Now I know some of us do not want to take blame, but parents buy the groceries, parents make the meals, what choices are you giving your kids.? The food that is being bought comes in from the parents.  I know every time I touch this point I tick a few people off&#8230;.actually a lot!  I do not care this is a growing epidemic and parents are directly responsible.  If your child has a choice between, carrots, celery, apples and strawberries, they will make a healthy choice, why?  Because they have no other choice!  If there are granola bars, (chocolate bars really)  chips, crackers, and  candy, they are kids what do you think they will choose? It is so time for parents to take a good look at themselves and what they are feeding their kids and see thier direct physical risks and emotional risks they are putting their kids in, please wake up, change and make decisions today to stop this!</p>

<p><strong>Today</strong></p>
<p>I have decided to stop numbering the days.  Really how much good can that do to me!  Anyway been doing well and feel like I am in  the groove now.  Except for the fact I am supposed to be doing my cardio right now and I am blogging instead.  But I will do it right after this post.  Well the past few days have been interesting to say the least.  I have had some fun days and some days where I just have to push through.  I specialize in motivating others and as a trainer my one on one sessions can be hard.  I find it easy to tell people to get going or push through.  But what do I do when I am doing the workout with my client and I get tired!  Well that happened yesterday as I took my wonderful client to a set of 81 stairs.  Our goal half an hour up and down.  Now keep in mind the day before I did legs, and taught a kickboxing class as well as actively participated in one of my own boot camps(they are tough!)  Anyway after the first set my legs were burning, holy man, what was I supposed to do then.  Well I buckled in for the long haul and was very honest with my client but stuck to 30 mins on the dot.  I had to dig deep while helping her to give her all.  It was a good growing time , but not easy.</p>
<p>Another thing I had to deal with this week is critical people.  I think it is pathetic when others go out of their way to make you feel bad, or express opinions that are not positive.  Really , why would someone take the time to email harsh words and words that are unkind.  If it was a woman that did it, I get so sad to think that another woman is tearing down other woman.  We need to band together and be a team.  But anyway, I hold on to the thought that people who write critical harsh emails based on feeling and not  fact are so sad and pathetic it is the only way they can be heard and well hopefully they felt better by tearing me down.  I guess I can look at it that way, and I did a good thing in the universe  on Saturday I  helped a poor, unheard, hurting individual get out those pent up feelings!  Yeah me!  <img src='http://lifetrainer.ca/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p><strong>Day 8</strong></p>
<p>I am now on day 8.  What a week.  My birthday came and went with me being so indignant about sticking to my plan, and I am so proud of myself I did it.  I made the day about my family ,friends, and special thoughts about people close to me.</p>
<p>I am down  both inches and pounds and as I round the corner of my  second week, things to look out for, being tired.  As the horrible wind and rain was blowing last night I was kept up late and woke early to teach a  boot camp, (I do have to say how proud I am of my faithful few who braved the elements to come and get an awesome workout, you are troopers, ladies ,and gentlemen.)  Having said all that, My first week doing anything can go awesome, coming out of the gates like a blazing fire, it&#8217;s the tiring weeks that follow it that can be the true test.  So I am buckling up and in for the ride, being aware of roadblocks and pitfalls, knowing that I can succeed with some preparation and dedication.  I know it will be a great week.</p>
<p>Today is Quads and calves, as well as 30 m in cardio.  Get kids to school and do the workout right away, so important.</p>

<p><strong>Day Three</strong></p>
<p><img class="alignleft" title="birthday" src="http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/rap_sheet/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/happy_birthday_cake.jpg" alt="" width="232" height="244" />So today is my birthday!  Woot Woot.  It leaves me to think about some things.  What is a birthday?  A celebration of the day I was born, we all thank God for that day lol.  But why does a birthday have to center around cake, cookies, and food.  It does not, I can make today about being grateful for being fit, and healthy.  For being born into a world that provides me with great opportunities and experiences.  I can focus on the joy my family brings me.  The family that would not be here if I were not born.  I can call my Mom and thank her for raising me to love God, to love myself and to love others.  I can thank her for all the sacrifices she made to make sure I had the very best to develop into the woman I am today.  I can surround myself with love and gratitude to fill me in a way food can not, and in doing so come out  with a birthday filled to the brim with what I need and what my soul desires.  A great day!</p>
<p>As for my workout today I will be doing cardio, and filling it with Turbo Kick; a class I am starting to teach next week.  Eat according to my plan, and continue helping others get fit.</p>

<p><strong>Day 1 of 112</strong></p>
<p>So today begins my 16 week off season training.  I am competing in Nov. at the Sandra Wickham classic, in the Master (over 35) Figures category.  I have all my food prepared and ready and all my workouts scheduled  for the week.  One would think I would be excited and ready to go.  But after waking up at 5am to teach my 5:45am Langford boot camp, the only thing on my mind is &#8220;when can I go back to bed?&#8221;</p>
<p>The best of intentions can be sabotaged by so many factors; being tired, bored, or fed up.  Mine right now is tiredness.  What will I do? Well, two solutions are coming to mind.  One is go back to bed promptly at 8:30am when my kids go to school and set my alarm for 2 hours before I need to go teach another boot camp or start my workout like a trooper and push through until the workout is over and I know I will feel better.</p>
<p>I plan to blog my journey here if you care to follow along. As a personal trainer and Bootcamp instructor I am in the business of motivating people to get in shape. I know the struggle. There are days you can&#8217;t wait to hit the gym, and there are days where you find every reason why you can&#8217;t be there.</p>
